GHBL is proud to announce that we will be hosting an MLB Pitch, Hit and Run event on June 10 at Catharpin Park! This event is free and open to the public. The snack shack will be open with reduced prices and we’ll welcome some local vendors to support the event. This event will serve as our Spring closing ceremony and we look forward to maximum participation from our league! Additional details are below!
Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run (PHR) events provide boys and girls an opportunity to showcase their baseball and softball skills, with the opportunity of earning a chance to attend and compete for a Championship during the 2024 MLB World Series!
Approved local events give youth organizations an opportunity to provide a free and high-quality experience for their participants. Even more, by hosting, they expand their programs, while building a strong relationship with MLB, MiLB, and its partners.
The Pitch, Hit & Run program is a free event series for boys and girls, and consists of a series of movements that are important in baseball and softball. Participants will compete in either 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, or 13-14 age division, with the Age Cut-off set on November 15, 2024. They will be tested, and their measurements will be recorded for points. Based on their scores, they will advance from a Local Event to a Team Championship and then to the Finals hosted at the World Series.

Reminder regarding Field Status!
In the event of inclement weather, coaches are reminded to call the Prince William County Department of Parks and Recreation status line at (703) 792-3282 in order to receive the latest status on baseball fields at Catharpin and Long Parks. During the weekdays, the county makes a call at 3pm, and on weekends the county will make a call at 7am and 12pm (if necessary). The only time the county will update the status line at 12pm on the weekend is if the fields were closed at 7am and conditions have improved to open them, or if the fields were open at 7am and conditions deteriorated resulting in closure(s).
GHBL will not send out field status in the event that fields are open. Field status will only be sent by GHBL if fields are closed.
If the county has made a decision to open the fields, games/practices should continue as scheduled and scheduled umpires should show up for games. If weather deteriorates after the county has made a decision to open fields, the decision then falls on the coaches to decide if fields are playable. Ultimately, it is the coaches discretion at that point to ensure player safety.
If there are additional questions regarding these instructions or direction, please reach out to avoid any confusion moving forward.
